1. What Is a GCC?

A Global Capability Center (GCC) also called a Global In-house Center (GIC) or captive center is a wholly owned office that a multinational company sets up in another country to run important parts of its business directly, instead of outsourcing that work to a third-party vendor.
GCCs are different from traditional IT/BPO outsourcing firms like TCS, Infosys, or Wipro. A GCC of Walmart, Goldman Sachs, or Google in India works only for that one company, builds its actual products and platforms, and reports directly into the company’s global leadership not to an external client.

2. India’s GCC Market- Key Numbers

India is the world’s largest GCC destination by a wide margin, often called the “GCC Capital of the World.” Here is the headline data students and viewers should know:

Metric Today (2026) By 2030 (Projected)
Number of GCCs in India ~2,000-2,100+ centers 2,500+ centers
People employed ~1.9-2.4 million professionals 2.8-3.4 million professionals
Annual revenue / export value $64.6 billion (FY2024) $99-105 billion
Forbes Global 2000 firms with an India GCC 506 companies Rising further
Share of India’s GDP Nearing 2% Higher still
Share of office space leased (top 7 cities, 2025) 38% (31.3 million sq. ft. – a record)
New jobs added in a single year 4.25-4.5 lakh new jobs in 2026 alone ~1 million additional jobs added this decade

In short: this is not a slow-growing sector. India’s GCC workforce is on track to grow by roughly 1 million people this decade, even as overall hiring becomes more selective and skills-driven

3. Top GCC Hub Cities in India

City GCC Footprint Known For Example Companies
Bengaluru ~870-900 GCCs (~35-40% of India’s total) AI, SaaS, product engineering, deep-tech R&D, startups Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Rolls-Royce, Zeiss

5. New & Upcoming GCCs (2025-2026 Launches)

2025 was India’s most active GCC year on record, with roughly 50 new centers opening in just the first half of the year. That pace has continued into 2026 – in fact, Hyderabad alone saw three major new GCCs launch within the first two months of 2026. Below are confirmed recent and upcoming launches students can reference:

6. Hiring & Expansion Outlook (2026-2030)

GCC hiring in India is shifting from “hire in bulk” to “hire with precision” – but the overall volume is still rising sharply:

  • India’s GCCs are projected to add 4.25-4.5 lakh new jobs in 2026 alone.
  • The total GCC workforce is expected to reach 2.8-3.4 million professionals by 2030, up from roughly 1.9-2.4 million today – close to 1 million net new jobs this decade.
  • Fresher hiring at GCCs jumped about 48% in a single year, scaling from roughly 85,000-100,000 to about 133,000 new graduate hires.
  • Around 42% of all GCC roles today are held by professionals with 0-3 years of experience – GCCs are genuinely fresher-friendly, not just for senior hires.
  • By 2030, nearly 39% of the GCC workforce could be based in Tier-2/3 cities as companies expand beyond Bengaluru and Hyderabad to control costs and attrition.
  • The hottest in-demand skill areas in 2026 are GenAI/LLMs, cloud platform engineering (AWS, Azure, GCP), cybersecurity, data engineering, and product management.
